Tanzania has always been recognized for it's outstanding growing enviornment and it's association with the Peaberry variety of Coffea Arabica. Organically grown by farmers belonging to the Oromia collective between 1700 and 3300 feet on the side of Mount Kilimanjaro in iron rich soil. Roasted to medium "city" darkness this cup profiles as a mild and tangy cup with lots of upward bright acidity. Rich cedar-like and tobacco flower coffee flavor with sharp pleasing sweet floral aromatics. Light to moderate body and pungent complex movement of the cup as it cools gives definition to this classic. Final note: the Peaberry maintains 3 to 5 % more caffiene by weight than most other arabica beans. A power-up cup to be sure.
The EXACT same Tanzanian Oromia Co-op grown organic as the medium roasted bean offering. The bean is roasted for a longer time and at lower temperature bringing much more of the oils to the surface and developing more burnt sugar to the cup, making for an entirely different brew. The cup profiles bit less tangy and much more smokey exhibiting a more muted acidity and a great deal more rolling body. Still remaining true to the fruit and floral complexity peaberries are known for. Deep raisen and prune, caramel wood smoke and syrupy mollasses like flavor and pungent aromatics abound. Deep and exotic. Less buzz for the much darker profile makes it the perfect compliment after a heavy dinner. Enjoy with chocolate and fruit desserts. Welcomes heavy cream increasing it's silky texture and sexy allure.
