This USDA certified organic coffee comes from Gayo Mountain nestled in the region of Aceh, . The beans are wet processed in Takengon, Sumatra, Indonesia. This mill is the only one of its kind in Northern Sumatra producing high quality washed and unwashed coffees. Roasted to an XXXDark “Italian” profile this bean is heavy and syrupy awash with notes of ripe strawberry and wood smoked toffee. It processes a body and mouth feel of a heavy well aged red wine. Everything about this smooth and sweet bean is BIG. More goodness packed into each than almost any other coffee on the planet. The bean is primarily a composite of Hybrido de Timor and Red Cattui varietals Grown at an altitude between 1300 and 1900 meters. A solid choice. Will always satisfy those with a passion for VERY deep roasts.
We also offer this GAYO mountain grown bean in a Medium “City” roast. The less aggressive roast results in a much more dynamic and sensually textural cup. Sweet fruit flavors of Strawberry and Pomegranate drift over undertones of Tobacco flower and Vanilla Bean. Strong tones of fresh baked bread and cedar abound in the dry grind fragrance shifting to light sawn wood and caramel when the coffee is poured. Lighter roast mean more caffeine for more power in your day. Vibrant acidity and a less heavy mouth feel give way to a crisp and clean lingering citrus finish. Well suited for the fist cup of the day.
